Dr. Naram – Inspiring Story (from India)
Learning about and from Dr. Pankaj Naram here in India has been fascinating.
I hope you enjoy this short inspiring story (see video) and contribute your thoughts to the questions below.
“The greatest need in the world is understanding.” – Dr. Pankaj Naram
Please, we’d love it if you share your thoughts:
1. What can we do to better understand ourselves and each other?
2. Are there ways to leverage old and new “technologies” for this purpose?

1. I rescue the idea of seminar 1 of ICT4CC.
First we need to understand than the rest does not necessary think like us. From that point we can look at us less seriously and potentially others with more empathy .
2. I think that is easy and more real in face to face interaction. Now as we are in a virtual architecture, in some way we are determinated by it to behaviour in some way. Also, as we are very extrange to each other we can imagine we are actually confident and kind, but it doesn´t feels totally real as it were in face to face interaction.

Thank you for sharing and inspiring! Dr.Yes that is true Identification of ourselves is the main barrier of communication. Ego of our mind always Identify the “I” or the “SELF” in middle of any situation that is why we fail to listen and understand each other. In order to have better understanding then we should dissolve our ego or forget ourselves for a while and listen what others want to tell us.
Regarding the ways to leverage old and new techn.. Off course there are ways which i think of good for better understanding but it goes to ourselves that we need to be aware how to use, manage or possess the technologies. we have to know how we can communicate with ppl, how we can be good for others, how we can respect entirely different ideas that ppl have for reality. We have to accept the diversity we have and consider it as a beauty.
To see things beyond individual level I just want to say something…. We must use technologies for the well being of humans i.e to promote good values of humanity. Especially nowadays we are facing many challenges and we are in a retreat globally. we dont have a trust pass for being interconnected and caring each other. some parts of the world already left behind by far. All these problems are created because of our mind dysfunction through out the course of history. There for no trust pass. suspicions and advantages are everywhere that is why we cant harmonize our relationships and communicate properly. Technologies are our tools that we are able to meet people and access resources and information even from distant areas but we are not using its potential properly. sometimes technology can be destructive if we are decided to use in wrong ways. Then lets stop and think little to change our institutions and systems in a way that all human beings are benefited from. looking forward to see more discussions…. “I am the first to start discussion” said my egoic mind lol – example of identification!

Wonderful video, Clint; very inspiring. It is so important to people to BE SEEN, truly seen and acknowledged. Along with non-attachment and non-resistance, non-judgment is an essential quality to develp for those who wish cease coming from a place of ego. The attribute of non-judgment will go a long way towards helping us truly see each other, understand each other, and love each other.

Such an awesome video!! I loved the message, I think it will help me as I try to think of my next endeveor, and also as I approach others in my life. I spend too much time trying to be understood myself, and so little time making sure others feel understood. But as we understand others fully but putting ourselves aside, we can more fully feel understood. Win win situation, if only it was easier ofr oursleves and others to implement in our lives! My new goal is to try harder, thanks!

My little thought: I think, that it is not by any means possible to fully understand the other person.
And maybe that is WHY we need to be understanding. Understanding not in the meaning of knowing the way somebody thinks, knowing what are their reasons. We don’t have to be able to imagine ourselves in their situation, take their point of view.. and this is simply because there is plenty of situations one cannot even imagine themselves in. We are very different and it is not the purpose to be able to understand everyone.
I think understanding here means just realising we all are in fact just human beings, realising that for any question there’s no good or bad answer, that in fact no one figured out how things should be done yet, that we are never the ones to judge. Just BEING READY to ACCEPT the other person, regardless of what she thinks, what she’s done, or what she’s going to do. This is understanding for me.
I think my approach is somehow connected with the Christian religion I grew in. “Don’t judge if you don’t want to be judged”
… and it has pretty much to do with the concept od Christian love. Being ready to accept and love every person, regardless of anything.

… for example we don’t need to understand the guy whose dream was to kill 300 people, we don’t need to agree with that or even be able to imagine such situation in which we would think like him.
But we can accept him. We can just stop ourselves from judging, from shouting “oh, it’s a crime! it’s terrible! how can anyone think like that?!”. We can just look at him as another person, who is like me, who is in fact as good man as I am, just different.
Of course it is important to have own principles, sense of morality.. of course killing 300 people is bad. But is the guy bad?
Hope someone’ll get what I mean;)

Thank you for sharing… It reminds me how important it is to support the “true self” the one with dreams that have not been reached due to lack of support and resources.
The best gift we can give is to be who we truly are and shine out.
We can help that happen by providing the resources and support for each to become who they were born to be.
